The 119th Congress: What’s Up In Washington

With the end of the year fast approaching, ASCE looks back at the major developments on Capitol Hill in the first session of the 119th Congress and the second Trump administration. President Trump’s began his second term shaking up Washington, but his agenda has some met resistance and infrastructure legislation still needs to be passed before the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act expires in 2026. Therefore, Congress is working on passing not only a surface transportation reauthorization, but a reauthorization of water programs, as well as a dozen spendings bills that will build on the dramatic changes envisioned by the Administration’s “Big, Beautiful Bill.” Join members of ASCE’s government affairs team for insights into the potential impacts of major legislation and what actions to expect from lawmakers as they begin the race for control of Congress after the 2026 midterm election.
