Developing a Statewide Lead Service LIne Inventory

Significant Projects

EPA's Lead and Copper Rule Revisions set the requirment for all community water systems to develop an inventory of all service lines in their system. Both the State of South Dakota and the State of Wyoming realized that their relatively smaller comminity water systems (generally less than 50,000 customers) would benefit from statewide assistance. By standardizing lead service line inventories across the state, the state could position itself to assist small systems in complying with the EPA's mandate of a Lead Service Line Inventory for all community water systems by October 16, 2024. Bartlett & West was selected as part of the team on these statewide projects. With 481 and 784 systems, respectively, our vision was to standardize messaging and training to stakeholders, and connect with each community water system throughout the process to ensure they were progressing in their inventory development, and provide standard messaging and marketing materials community water systems across the state, while limiting field services (ie. potholing to locate and identify service line materials).
