Newly Transitioning Member Panel

State of the Industry

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has identified the need to focus on the expectation of ASCE members who become working professionals after college/university graduation. ASCE seeks to improve the membership transition from student to professional membership grades, as well as the retention of newly transitioning members. The Working Group on the Newly Transitioning Member is tasked with providing various "Best Practices" that can aid, instruct, and inform others in how they can best leverage everything that ASCE has to offer to better themselves personally and professionally.

Showcasing the Working Group's efforts through a panel on the newly transitioning member at the 2025 ASCE Convention will accomplish several objectives of ASCE's revised Strategic Plan (2023-2028). Panel discussions are a resource to all attendees of the ASCE Convention. Conversations on various industry topics foster ideas and future collaborations that is critical to the progress of the organization and society. The panel will be moderated by Alyssa Sookal, P.W., ENV SP, M. ASCE (Chair of the Working Group), with a diverse suite of three panelists of varying stages of their careers.
