Trends in the engineering workforce are threatening the profession’s ability to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Dynamic and creative approaches are now required to guarantee the future health and sustainability of both the civil engineering profession and the nation’s infrastructure systems. Last year, ASCE, in partnership with the National Governors Association, developed strategies for the public and private sector to address the engineering workforce pipeline. To follow up with that effort, recently ASCE created the Engineering Workforce Consortium along with the American Council of Engineering Companies and the American Public Works Association as an avenue to further delve into solutions ranging from K-12 outreach all the way through addressing the silver tsunami that is impacting the engineering profession. Join engineering workforce leaders for a panel discussion on strategies to attract the next generation of engineers, as well as how to retain and expand the workforce of today.
