The presentation will focus on how the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is working with local agencies, ITS America, the auto industry, and others to deploy Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology throughout the USA.
V2X uses wireless technology to allow cars to communicate with other vehicles, roadside infrastructure, and personal devices.
The presentation will outline the newly released National V2X Deployment Plan and a new $60 million grant program that will deploy V2X technology in Arizona, Texas, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming.
In addition, the presentation will include details about:
• USDOT’s recent Intersection Safety Challenge, that is transforming intersection safety through the innovative application of emerging technologies including machine vision, sensor fusion, and real-time decision-making to identify and mitigate unsafe conditions involving vehicles and vulnerable road users.
• The Smart Community Resource Center, the premiere resource for information about deploying V2X and other ITS technologies.
• The Complete Streets/AI program The Complete Streets AI Initiative, a $15 million multi-phase effort funding small businesses to develop a powerful new decision-support tool(s) for the state, local, and tribal transportation agencies that assist in the siting, design, and deployment of Complete Streets.
